Configuring Thunderbird

We’ve created setup guide to help you set up your Thunderbird email client with WebMate hosted email.

Step 1: Setup
Open Thunderbird.
Go to Tools in the menu bar and choose Account settings.
This will open the add account assistant.

Click on Account Actions and choose Add Mail Account
from the menu.

Step 2: Add Account Details
In this section add your name, email address and the email account password.
Tick the checkbox to Remember password.

Click Continue when you're done.

When the page changes click Manual configuration

Step 3: Manual configuration
First choose your Account Type POP or IMAP.

info icon POP or IMAP ?
  We recommend using Account Type IMAP as this will sync across all of your devices, you'll be able to add this email account to as many devices as you like.
  If you know that you will only access this email account from this one computer you can choose POP.
       
Add your email account details using the settings below.
       

Incoming Mail

 

Outgoing Mail

 
Incoming: IMAP Outgoing: SMTP
Server hostname: mail.webmate.me Server hostname: smtp.webmate.me
Port: 995(POP3) or 993 (IMAP) Port: 465
SSL: SSL/TLS SSL: SSL/TLS
Authentication: Normal password Authentication: Normal password
Incoming Username: your full email address Outgoing Username: your full email address

info image When you set the Account Type to IMAP or POP, the Default ports given by the email software will be fine.
Thunderbird image
When you've finished, click Done.
Your email account has been added to Thunderbird.
