Using early iWeb and FTP for WebMate Lite

Quick Overview...

Publish to desktop then upload your files using an FTP program. If you are using an early version of iWeb the option to use FTP will not be available, you will need to publish to a local folder on your computer then you will need to use some software like Cyberduck or FileZilla to access your web space via FTP. (File Transport Protocol)

Detailed instructions...
Step: #1 Create a folder then publish your website
Create a folder on your desktop, the name is irrelevant as only the contents of the folder that needs to be transferred to the /websites/domainname/web folder, not the folder itself.

From iWeb, Publish your website to the folder on your desktop.

Step: #2 Publishing settings
In the site publishing settings there will be 2 options from a drop down menu,

MobileMe
 & Local folder.

Select Local folder.

Location: click Choose and select your folder on the desktop.
Step: #3 Open your FTP program
Once the files are published to the folder on your desktop you will need to open your FTP program. There are lots of FTP programs available and you can use any of them, we recommend Cyberduck or FileZilla, WebMate has help files to help you use both of these programs.

When you publish your files to your web space be sure that only the contents of the Local folder you created is transferred and not the Local folder itself. All of your site files and sub folders must be published in to the /web folder.
